Rocca Sforzesca di Dozza (Sforza Fortress)

La Rocca di Dozza is a monumental complex of medieval origin that was transformed by Caterina Sforza into a fortified castle then used as a noble residence during the Renaissance period.
On the ground floor are the courtyard, the prisons and the historic kitchen furnished with the antique cookware.
The second floor contains the noble apartments, complete with furniture and paintings. The portraiture in the historic quadreria of the Rocca creates a path of small descriptive panels.
To get to the third floor, where the spaces are usually reserved for temporary exhibitions, one passes through the frescoed and recently restored loggia.
The route continues on to the towers from which you can admire the vast panoramic view of the surrounding hills.
In the tower, the Dozza’s dragon, Fyrstan, rests, visible all year through a secured gate.
The Enoteca Regionale dell’Emilia Romagna is housed in the basement of the Rocca.
Admission tickets holders can visit the entire castle.
