Oasi del Quadrone
The Wildlife Protection Oasis “Il Quadrone”, was established in 1985 by the Province of Bologna. It is located in the municipal area of Medicina on land owned by Coop. Agricola LACME.
It covers about 270 hectares, inside the Cassa del Quadrone where there are wetlands with a valley, hygrophilous woodlands, a meadow and grove area. The Oasi is a shelter for many animal and plant species.
It is possible to follow an itinerary starting from the Visitor Center that takes the visitor to the different environments to observe their flora and fauna.
From wooden huts, visitors can practice BIRDWATCHING and read the informational signs that tell the history of the area and describe the animal and plant species that can be observed.
The features of the place, the favorable environmental conditions and the low impact agricultural activities, make the Oasis an area well suited for environmental education.
For this reason, since some years ago the agricultural cooperative LA.C.ME. made it an FATTORIA DIDATTICA (an educational farm) and hosts, for the whole school year, guided tours and workshops for school children in at its visitors center.
