Solarolo

Past and traditions

Solarolo originates from Roman colonization, which left a strong mark on the landscape thanks to Roman organization of the farming grounds: among the grid lines of this division the rests of many villas were found.

The town center, in fourteenth century style, was almost completely destroyed during Second World War.

A good part of the ancient Manfredian walls are still standing, fewer private houses and ruins of the Mill (active in 1397) survived to this day. The old gate to the town was rebuilt near the ruins of the Fortress.

Main element of Solarolo economy is agriculture and some handcafts: “Macramè of Solarolo” is a traditional lace made with peculiar details.

Is the hometown of the world famous Italian singer Laura Pausini.
